Cosmetic Surgery Quick Facts 2015
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, more than 12 million surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States last year. Breast augmentation was among the most popular surgical cosmetic procedures with more than 305,000 procedures performed in 2015.

2015 Cosmetic Surgery Highlights
- Americans spent more than $13.5 billion on cosmetic procedures in 2015, an increase of $1.5 billion from the year before. Surgical procedures accounted for 58% of total 2015 expenditures and nonsurgical procedures accounted for 42%.
- More than 12,700 cosmetic procedures were performed in 2015, up 20% over the prior year. Surgical procedures were up 7%, with over 1.9 million procedures performed, and nonsurgical procedures were up 22%, with more than 10.8 million procedures performed.
- Statistical data for fat grafting to the breasts, buttocks, and face was reported for the first time this year. There were 18,135 fat grafting procedures to the breasts, 18,487 to the buttocks and 48,059 to the face. Fat transfer to the face was the 9th most popular surgical procedure in 2015.
- The total number of cosmetic procedures increased by 39% over the past 5 years. Surgical procedures were up 17% and nonsurgical procedures were up 44%.
- Where cosmetic procedures were performed in 2015: Office facility 61.9%, Hospital 11.9%, Free-standing surgical center: 26%

Women had more than 11.5 million cosmetic procedures in 2015, 90.5% of the total. The number of cosmetic procedures performed among women has increased more than 538% since 1997.

The top five cosmetic surgical procedures for men in 2015 were:

- Nose Surgery: 30,928
- Eyelid Surgery: 30,696
- Male Breast Reduction: 30,464
- Facelift: 13,726
Men had more than 1.2 million procedures performed, 9.5% of the total. The number of cosmetic procedures performed among men has increased more than 325% since 1997.

People ages 35 to 50 had the most procedures performed (more than 5.1 million, 40.4% of the total).
