Breast Augmentation Planning Checklist
A little planning goes a long way when preparing for breast augmentation. Print out this handy checklist to help you prepare for breast augmentation surgery and the subsequent recovery process.
- I have specific instructions from my surgeon for medications and vitamins to take before and after surgery.
- Prescriptions for pain medication, antibiotics and any other medications filled prior to surgery.
- Home is clean and laundry is done.
- Things in my home I normally have to reach up for are placed at countertop level.
- Home is well-stocked with foods that are light on the stomach, such as crackers, soup, applesauce, cottage cheese, oatmeal, jello, yogurt and pudding.
- Comfortable clothes are ready for my recovery period, including loosely-fitting shirts that open in the front, sweat pants, pajama bottoms and other pull-on pants.
- I have a couple of cotton sports bras without underwire for the first few weeks after surgery.
- A sofa or recliner is set up in my living area with blankets and pillows.
- I have enough pillows on my bed to sleep on a smooth incline.
- A phone and list of phone numbers are within reach, including my doctor's daytime and after-hours numbers.
- I have plenty of books, magazines, my journal, TV remote, CD player, laptop and/or video games.
- My nightstand is set up with a phone, my list of numbers, light snacks, water and something to read.
- I have a pill case or a medications list to help keep my medications and vitamins on schedule.
- I have a thermometer to take my temperature in the first few days after surgery.
- Several ice packs are ready in the freezer - ziplock bags filled with water, packs of frozen fruits or vegetables or reusable gel packs.
- I have a heating pad, hot water bottle or microwaveable pack (for treating back pain, if necessary).
- I have a topical anesthetic cream, or numbing cream (if necessary for relief if your nipples become overly sensitive).
- I have a mild laxative (if necessary for relief of constipation from pain medications taken after surgery).
- I have Kleenex, a supply of wetnaps or baby wipes, a moisterizer and hand lotion.
- I have someone to drive me home after surgery.
- I have a pillow, crackers and something to drink in the vehicle for the ride home.
- I have someone to stay with me the first night and help me out for a few days.
